The Conquest
of Canaan
The
Conquest of Canaan by Joshua took 6 years from B.C. 1487 to 1493.
The war began with the DEMOLITION of Jericho when Joshua (Jesus) and
the Israelites blew the trumpets and the massive walls fell down flat.
The Conquest of Canaan, like the Exodus from Egypt, were acted out
in history and typified events that would occur at the end of the
world. St. Paul said:
"Now
all these things (in the Old Testament) happened unto them for examples:
and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends
of the world are come (I Cor. 10:11)."
During
the Conquest of Canaan, Joshua ordered the sun and moon to stand still
and the Lord rained down on his enemies great hail out of heaven.
The 7 nations that confronted Joshua were GIANTS and they were like
the sands of the sea in number. The Lord told Joshua to completely
destroy these corrupt nations but the Gibeonites tricked Joshua into
believing that they were from a far away land:

"When
the people of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and
Ai, they resorted to a ruse: They went as a delegation whose donkeys
were loaded with worn-out sacks and old wineskins, cracked and
mended. The men put worn and patched sandals on their feet and
wore old clothes. All the bread of their food supply was dry and
moldy. Then they went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal and said
to him and the men of Israel, 'We have come from a distant country;
make a treaty with us'...The men of Israel sampled their provisions
but did not enquire of the Lord. Then Joshua made a treaty of
peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the assembly
ratified it by oath." (Joshua 9:3-15) |
Making
things look a lot older than they really are is a typical trick of
the evilutionist.
The
other kings were highly displeased that the Gibeonites had made a
treaty with Israel.
Joshua
commanded the sun and moon to stand still!!

Upon
hearing of the treaty, the Amorite kings of Jerusalem, Hebron,
Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon joined forces and attacked the Gibeonites,
who called on Joshua for help. He agreed, and after an all-night,
4000-foot uphill march from Gilgal, the Israelites attacked the
kings. The enemy was thrown into confusion. Joshua and his army
drove the Amorites westward into the Valley of Ajalon ("field
of deer"). There, God killed more of the enemy with hailstones
than Joshua did with the sword. To prolong the battle, Joshua
spoke the famous command: "O sun, stand
still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Ajalon."
Later, after Joshua discovered the truth about the Gibeonite deception,
he forced them to become water carriers and woodcutters for the
Israelites.

Joshua
commended the sun and moon to stand still so that the Israelites could
have more time to destroy their enemies:
"And
it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the
going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from
heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which
died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with
the sword.
Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up
the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight
of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon
Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood
still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves
upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So
the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down
about a whole day.
And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD
hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.
(Joshua 10: 11-14)."
End of the World
Events
Highlights
of the last great events include: a world wide Inquisition, trumpets
sounding, great hailstones falling from heaven, signs in the sun and
moon, resurrection of all the dead etc., etc.
"Behold,
I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all
be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for
the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal
must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this
mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to
pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our
Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always
abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your
labour is not in vain in the Lord. (I Cor, 15: 51-58)." |

"Immediately
after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars
shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall
be shaken:
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven:
and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall
see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power
and great glory.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet,
and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds,
from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:29-31)."
"And there fell
upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight
of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of
the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great. (Rev.

when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of
his prison,
And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters
of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the
number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp
of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from
God out of heaven, and devoured them.
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and
brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be
