the Competition!!
The only competition to the Gaelic peregrini came from the Roman monks . . . but that was no competition at all because the Roman monks believed that cleanliness was next to ungodliness. In other words, taking a bath was one of the 7 deadly sins!! Anthony with a hog under his habit. Anthony (251- 350) was an Egyptian hermit and the founder of the Roman monastic orders. He was the patron saint of pigs. In this picture he is shown with his favorite animal under his habit. Owing to the fact that the Roman monks never bathed, nobody ever got too close to them to hear what they were saying. Benedict of Nursia was the founder of the Benedictines. Benedict (480-547) was the founder of the Benedictines. Their most famous abbey is in Monte Cassino, Italy. He is shown here reading a book. According to Benedict Fitzpatrick, their Monastic Rule forbade them to own a book and most of them could not even read!! They supplanted the Gaelic foundations in the 12th century. Dominic was the founder of the Dominicans and the dreaded Inquisition. Dominic Guzmán (1170-1221) founder of the dreaded Inquisition. He was a complete failure as a preacher . . . so he got hold of the king of France and used the Government to exterminate the Christians in Languedoc, Southern France. It was called the Albigensian Crusade. The Inquisition was the greatest engine of destruction to ever befoul the face of the earth. It is still alive and well in the Vatican under the specious name Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Francis of Assisi was the founder of the Franciscans. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226) was known as the bird preacher. Nobody wanted to listen to him so we get the expression "it's for the birds." Unlike humans, birds have no sense of smell and they don't care if you never took a bath. Once, when the Arabs were threatening to invade Sicily, the Vatican sent him to negotiate a peace deal....He got upwind from them . . . and in no time at all they signed all the agreements!! His gentle Franciscans committed terrible war crimes in Croatia during WW II, including running a children's Concentration Camp!! Ignatius LIEola was the founder of the Jesuits. Ignatius LIEola (1491-1556) is last in our rogues gallery. All the previous Orders had failed to stop the dawning of the blessed Reformation Day so the Jesuit Order was Satan's FINAL ANSWER to the Reformation. All the previous monks were easily recognizable by their distinctive brown habit and round corona shaped tonsure. The Jesuits did away with all that. They assumed every disguise under the sun. Among the Protestants they were Protestants, among the Muslims, they were Muslims, etc., etc. Hibernia was their first target so the Jesuits poured into that country. It wasn't long before they had their deadliest enemy fighting on their side. They accomplished this with the help of the Tiber and the Thames - the British Government. The other Monastic Orders hate the Jesuits. There is no unity among the Roman legions. A Dominican is forbidden to confess his sins to a Jesuit priest. The Black Pope - a Jesuit - runs the Vatican behind the scenes. The Pope must confess his sins to a Jesuit but no Jesuit has ever been elected Pope. Editor's Note Thanks be to God, Hibernia was spared the monkish invasion until the 12th Century. Even though that country was dotted with schools that the later writers call monasteries, Hibernians never saw a Roman monk there. See Scottish History, Vol. II, ch.18.
